Hi! my name is Mariam and I am a 15 year old photographer. I mainly enjoy shooting landscapes and portraits. I began taking photos of sunsets a few years and it made me realize how much I enjoy photography then it just grew from there! This class helped me improve my photographs and I learned new editing skills that are very helpful. I also learned new cool styles of photography!

I think it adds a cool effectUkulele: I took this picture of my sister’s ukulele and I really like itCat: I took this picture of the Camp Cedar Springs catPretty sky: I took this really pretty photo of the sunset on my friends roofBrick wall: This is a picture of a brick wall that’s in my grandmas houseClear water: I took this picture at Clear Water beach in FloridaSucculent: I took this picture of a succulent that I have in my roomNemo: A super cute picture of my friends cat NemoSunset: Another pretty picture of the sky I took near my housePeople: picture of my cousin
i personally really enjoy photos that are vibrant, ones that tell a story, and candid photos. I never really think about taking photos and normally wont out of shyness, but i hope that i will be able to overcome that and take photos of things i enjoy, or moments i want to capture the feeling of.

Hi! My name is Fenris, and I’m an amateur photographer who enjoys shooting bodyscape and candid photos. I started photography by taking pictures of my family while they were hiking, and it spiraled from there. This semester, I was able to improve so much more than I thought that I would. I learned about how to use cameras, types of photography, and even the way that I prefer to shoot photos.
Texture
Asphalt: I had to get really close to the ground for this picture.
Moss and leaves: I really like the way that the colors of the red leaves and green moss go together.
People
On the porch: One of my parents on the porch in our apartment.
Card games: I took this as one of the candid photos around ILHS.
iPad kid: I remember trying really hard not to laugh while I took this picture.
Eggs
Close egg: I used Ms. Clare’s camera for these photos. It was the first time that I was able to play around with the settings on a camera, and I was surprised with how well it turned out.
Shadow egg: It was difficult to get the egg to stop rolling away for this photo.
Wow, another egg: This might be one of my favorite photographs from the first quarter of the year.
Painting With Light
Hands: This photo was really fun to take! I just got to wave my hand back and forth.
Waves: This photo was a bit difficult. My arms got sore trying to make sure that the light got around enough.
Inspiration
One photographer I look up to is Jessica Belhar. Even though we shoot very different types of photography, I find her work to be very inspiring and it makes me want to be able to learn more about color palettes in photography and how I can better utilize them.
Aaron Siskind has an incredibly unique approach when it comes to photography. I absolutely love the little details in all his photography. His abstract photos, seem to represent puzzle pieces, like the one above. If it were a simple black image, then you wouldn’t know why it means something. Because the piece is missing, it leaves the reader to wonder whats behind, giving it meaning.
Hello everyone, I am Devenji. I am a 15-year-old artist, photographer, and animator, but you all know me by my photos. I wanted to make a quick summary of this semester and my favorite works, as well as some inspiration from my favorite photographer, Elena Helfrecht. Even though there were many bumps along the way before I finally had some sort of groove to cling to, this class has been nothing but wonderful and I am so grateful to get this experience to share my work.
¨Impending Doom¨
This is a shot of my feline companion Mo, he is shown exhibiting uncomprehensible wrath. Above is my favourite quote of Elena Helfrecht´s.
¨Grip¨
Here we have a shadow portrait of my classmate Victoria´s hand. I tried to get her to bend it in weird, bizzare ways but I feel it still lacks character.
¨October¨
This photo was actually a collaboration between me and my fellow photographer Gavin Maynard, it encompasses the feeling of sorrow when he pulled me along a trail with him, I feel it did me justice.
¨Shattered¨
Here I have taken a once broken desk ornament and turned it into something aesthetically pleasing by setting it on a window sill and laying on the floor for the best imaginable angle.
¨Bandages¨
This image was unfortunately corrupted severely by my chrome book, making it extremely pixelated and for that I am sorry. This photo still remains one of my favorites, showing scars that may be perceived as ugly, when they should be looked at as strength.
¨Heat¨
Unfortunately yet another image was corrupted by my chrome book. This has been by far my favorite photo of the semester, I love how the heat in the wire is portrayed by the camera.
¨Vertigo¨
A painting with light piece shot in my room. At first, I thought this picture was ugly and unpleasing to the eye, but the more I looked at it the more it reminded me what my vertigo sessions feel like. Now I am rather fond of it.
¨Beautiful Baby¨
This remains one of the cleanest shots I have taken. Although I had to bribe this beast into submission with milk bones so I could prepare the perfect shot, it was well worth it.
¨Inner Lori¨
This is definitely one of those images I love the idea of more than the actual ¨skill¨. My mother has been merged with her cat, showing the close bond between the two as well as a reflection of each other in themselves.
¨El huevo¨
One of my first real ¨professional¨ pictures. Although this is just a simple egg, it holds a lot of sentimental value with me through this class´ journey.
¨The deadly sin of Sloth¨
The focus here is on my father´s face while the background, and a bit of the foreground, is blurred. I adore the colors and brilliance in this photo.
And finally my favorite piece from my favorite photographer, Elena Helfrecht. Something about this photo really resonates with me. Whether it’s the bizarre aesthetic or the dramatic lighting, all of it blends together so well and creates a certain feeling of unease and curiosity in the viewer that I am addicted to!
My work of the first semester at ILHS Photography class. I didn’t do any photography beforehand so this was new to me. its been good and i would keep doing it once the class is over.
